Jesus with the men on the road to Emmaus
In Numbers 21, there was rebellion happening among of the people
The people were questioning Moses and ultimately questioning God
The people were against His word
They were complaining about what they were being fed
Manna is the bread that came down from Heaven.
Jesus is also the Bread of Life
The way were are led and fed need to come from God
God is trying to get our attention in the midst of the crisis in the world
There are people that don’t want to read and accept God’s Word.
They want to be their own boss and their own way
Numbers 21:6 – Retribution
God is Holy and He judges sin
In the Bible the serpent has been a symbol of sin
Fiery serpents – Serpents that were poisonous and caused immense pain
There are always consequences of sin
Many of Israel died in this judgement of God
There is a penalty for sin
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal through Jesus Christ our Lord
James 1:14-15 – The progression of sin
We are all sinners. We are saved by grace and not of works
Numbers 21:7-8 – The Remedy
Moses prayed for the people and appealed for them to God.
The people had come to Moses saying they had sinned and that God take away the serpents
God told Moses to make a serpent of brass and put it on a pole. If people looked upon the serpent that was held up they would be healed.
Much like the Son of Man was lifted up on the cross and died for our sins and all they look upon Him and believe in Him will be saved
Jesus is the only remedy
Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
The Remedy was sufficient
It met the needs of people of Israel
Jesus is the solution and the remedy that completely satisfies God
The greatest need in America is that the people came back to God and come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior
We need to look at the cross and ask ourselves, Why is Jesus on it?
1 Corinthians 1:18-21
It’s not heritage or inheritance or through our parents that we find salvation.
Its not enough to church to find salvation
People can use excuses against the church or to God.
But that is no excuse as it their responsibility before God to accept His gift of salvation.
The church is full of sinners as well, but they are saved by grace through Jesus.
May you trust in Jesus with all your heart.
For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
